Lost and Found

By Laura Perez

Lately I’ve noticed more people feeling disillusioned with their career, business, marriage, or the direction their life has taken. We create this picture in our mind as to how we “expect” it to look or manifest.

It’s exciting when we discover our passion in life, a love interest, a career, a hobby. It’s thrilling, our hearts pitter patters, the feeling of butterflies in our stomach, and our minds filled with visions of endless possibilities.

Time blazes by and we surpassed the courting faze of our love interest, our lives shift, something unexpected happens or maybe the way we envision our dreams playing out don’t turn out the way we hoped. We start doubting our decisions questioning our abilities.

No one ever said that following our bliss would be easy. I am an expert in this field. I chased many dreams that I was passionate about, however, found myself unhappy when my vision did not manifest the way I thought it should.

We get caught up in the fantasy losing touch with reality, forgetting why we started in the first place. Forgetting what’s important. For example, a doctor practices medicine because he/she always wanted to help people he/she has a private practice for a while, then he/she is approached by a successful hospital to join their team. The promise of the big bucks, financial security, the perks and benefits are too good to pass up. A year soars by the doctor finds that what he/she expected is not so glamorous losing sight of the real “intention.”

It’s important to have an idea of what we want to happen, see the big picture. However, it takes an abundance of tolerance, patience, and courage to follow your dreams. It starts by setting realistic goals. Asking what your intention is. Here are some questions to ask yourself. How realistic is this for me? How attainable is this? What resources do I have that can help me? How much time do I want to commit to making this happen?
